Modelling using 1D elements

During this webinar the following topics will be discussed:

- Theory review
- Available 1D element types
- Properties of 1D element types
- Geometry for 1D modeling
- Idealization, modeling approach
- Demo example

1 dimensional elements are widely used in FEA. But often times, they are either poorly understood or not understood at all. In the hands of inexperienced users, this can lead to unmeasured consequences when beam and bar elements are interchangeably used for representing certain structural members under certain types of loading.

During the session we will look at the top level view of the most important aspects of rod, bar, pipe and cable elements.
FEA Foundations: How to check any mechanical product design with l...

If you know how to perform simulation to check mechanical product design, complex problems can be solved in a matter of minutes. Linear static analysis is a power analysis to perform such task.
However, there are some assumptions and conditions that you have to be aware off before using the power of linear static analysis. Ignoring them could prove very dangerous.

We organize this webinar as a free course to teach you the exact method and theory that is used in linear static analysis. You will get some knowledge about theory and also see some live example performed by our FEA expert Piotr Stepien.

What you will learn in details:

Why linear static helps tremendously to check product design
The fundamental assumptions you should absolutely know
Some simple theory that tells everything in one unique formula
How to constraint and load your model properly
How to use contacts between parts and the traps to avoid
How to go from linear static to more advanced analysis

The presentation will include some practical example performed in live.

The webinar is free, but places are limited to 100 people, so please register quickly if you want to get your access.

An Effective Workflow of FEA in Ship Design Project

Dr. Zagkas presents a unified designer-centered workflow between modelling and analysis of complex ships and offshore structures.

The process of shipbuilding is quite a complex one and comprises of several stages, each of which require a specific and a different kind of expertise. Over the years the ship-building process has been split into different modules, each of which is handled by a group of people possessing the expertise to perform the activities demanded of them.

Now this work flow, although classic in nature, is gradually changing and integrated design is gaining popularity where different parties communicate on the same design. This will be presented through a step by step design example utilizing BVB CAFE Ship Structural modeller and midas NFX total solution for mesh repair, solving and post-processing of marine type structures.

About the speaker:

Dr. Vassilios Zagkas | Founding Partner, SimFWD

Dr. Zagkas is a naval architect and marine engineer with 15 years of experience. His expertise and interests in include ship design, ship theory calculations, CFD/FEM, software development, etc.

In this webinar, he shares with us a unified designer-centered workflow for ship evaluation project. The same work flow was presented by Dr. Zagkas during the COMPIT 2015, the 14th international conference on Computer Applications and Information Technology in the Maritime Industries.
